Siemens opens Centre of Excellence at BEC

German giant in home appliances and IT major Siemens on Friday set up a Centre of Excellence at Bapatla Engineering College (BEC). Students of Mechanical Engineering would be trained in NX (next generation) software, a global module made for students by Siemens Product Lifecycle Management Software Inc.

The new facility has been set up as part of the tripartite agreement between Siemens Industry Software (India) Private Limited, BEC and Jytra Engineering Services, solution partner for Siemens.

Business Manager-Training Education Services, Kannaiah Mudaliyar inaugurated the new facility set up on the premises of BEC. “Students, who undergo training, would have a distinct advantage as their skill set is increased. NX software is designed for use in industrial automation and is the future technology,'' Mr. Kannaiah said.

The software was being used in automobile industry, electronics, heavy machinery, ship building etc.

The course has "open NX models" and allow the students to create and edit parametric solid medals and create and modify simple drawings.

President of Bapatla Educational Society Muppalaneni Seshagiri Rao said the BEC had set up Microsoft i-Spark, SiemensCentre of Excellence and would open Bosch centre of excellence.

“We are creating state-of-the-art facilities to train the students and make them ready for industry. The present day industry needs students with multi-dimensional skills,'' Mr. Rao said after inaugurating the new centre.

Principal K. Srinivasu, secretary M. Nageswara Rao, treasurer M. Krishna Gupta and CEO, Jytra Engineering Services, M. Murali Krishna were present.
